Smash & Dash

The Station was born from a humble flattop on the Pizzaiolo patio to a vibrant corner in Berkeley.

We never imagined a smashburger joint would be in our future, but when the pandemic hit and indoor dining was shut down, we had to get creative at Pizzaiolo. We fired up a makeshift flattop in our backyard and started flipping smashburgers. What began as a fun, temporary solution became a thing! People loved the simple, honest food and the casual, outdoor vibe. 

When Pizzaiolo fully reopened, we discontinued our smash burger production and quickly realized we had something special because the message from our customers when we stopped was loud and clear: bring back the burgers!  The idea of a permanent brick-and-mortar took root. It wouldn't be fancy, just a scrappy little spot focused on doing one thing well: making delicious smash burgers, fries, and shakes. We envisioned a lively place where people could gather, enjoy a quick, satisfying meal, and feel a sense of community.  We’re excited to keep flipping burgers and serving up the same spirit of scrappy & delicious simplicity!
